YAC Service Project - Fleece and Thank You
Each year HCCF Youth Advisory Committee Members participate in community service projects. One of their favorite projects is making blankets for Michigan based nonprofit, Fleece and Thank You!
The Huron County Community Foundation Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is comprised of high school students from each of our seven school districts. They meet monthly during the school year to discuss topics impacting Huron County’s young people, participate in community service projects, and make grants to youth serving organizations. Their December YAC meeting was dedicated to making blankets for Fleece and Thank You, a Michigan based nonprofit organization. Fleece and Thank You’s mission is to provide every child in a hospital receiving treatment with a cozy, colorful blanket and a note of support from the blanket makers.
During the meeting, YAC members worked in pairs with a student from another school district to make the blanket. YAC members often share that Fleece and Thank You meetings are one of their favorite memories of their time in YAC. Multiple members shared how it felt nice to do something good for someone else. We are proud of our YAC students and their commitment to serving others.
