Pirate Fund Mini Grants

February 2, 2026

The Huron County Community Foundation, Harbor Beach Community Schools, and the Harbor Beach Education Endowments (HBEE) Committee are delighted to announce Pirate Fund Mini Grants are now available!

The Pirate Fund was originally established in 2007 and reinvigorated in 2024. The fund exists to provide support for Harbor Beach Community Schools. This year the HBEE Committee had decided to utilize the Pirate Fund dollars to support mini grants. Anyone involved in educational initiatives, extracurricular activities, or other programs at Harbor Beach Community Schools is welcome to apply for this mini grant opportunity. Grants are not limited to just classrooms or educators, extracurricular activities and clubs are also eligible to apply.

Grants should be used to enhance the HBCS student experience through investment above and beyond the current environment. This could include enhancements to classroom experiences, new activities, field trips or culture experiences, or new equipment. This is not an exhaustive list; we would love to see your creative ideas for enhancing HBCS!

To apply complete and submit the attached form to the Huron County Community Foundation via email by March 27, 2026. The application is simple and straightforward. All you need to do is share the amount you’re requesting and a bit about how you would use the funds. That’s it!

For 2026, the maximum award amount is $350. If your project is more than $350, please include in your application how the funding gap will be addressed. The number of awards given will be based on the amounts requested and committee scoring.

The deadline to apply is March 27, 2026 at 4 p.m. Awarded will be announced in mid – April 2026.
