Accessing Harbor Beach Storrs Family CSA Funds

When Harbor Beach Community Schools graduates walked across that stage, their community was cheering for more than a diploma. They were cheering for everything that comes next and they put their money where their values are.

If you graduated from Harbor Beach Community Schools, you have a Harbor Beach Storrs Family Children's Savings Account. These are real dollars, held at Frankenmuth Credit Union and funded by the Storrs Family Fund at the Huron County Community Foundation, waiting to support your next step.

Here's everything you need to know to claim them.

What Is the Harbor Beach Storrs Family CSA?

The Harbor Beach Storrs Family Children's Savings Account (CSA) Program is a partnership between the Huron County Community Foundation (HCCF), Harbor Beach Community Schools, and Frankenmuth Credit Union. Every student who enrolled at Harbor Beach Community Schools was automatically given an account. The Storrs Family Fund at HCCF made an initial deposit of $100 at enrollment, with additional deposits added each year the student remained enrolled.

Those funds have been sitting in your name, waiting for you to graduate!

What Can the Funds Be Used For?

Your CSA dollars are dedicated to postsecondary education and career-related expenses. That includes:

  • College and University costs — tuition, fees, room and board

  • Trade School and Certification Programs — tuition and enrollment costs

  • Career-Related Purchases — tools, equipment, steel-toed boots, uniforms, or other required supplies for your job

  • Educational Materials — textbooks, laptops, lab supplies, and other course-related costs

Funds can be paid directly to your college or trade school, or reimbursed directly to you when you provide a receipt for an eligible purchase.

How to Request Your Funds

The disbursement process is straightforward and takes about five minutes.

Step 1: Fill out the CSA Disbursement Request Form. The form is available by clicking the link at the bottom of this post. You'll be asked for basic contact information, your graduation year, and details about how you'd like your funds disbursed.

Step 2: Choose your disbursement method. If your funds are going directly to a college or trade school, simply confirm that on the form and provide your Student ID for our college or trade school. If you're requesting reimbursement for something you've already purchased, upload a receipt or proof of purchase.

Step 3: Submit and allow time for processing. Once your form is submitted, HCCF will review your request, obtain the necessary signatures, and mail your check. Please allow at least 2–3 weeks from the time of submission for processing and delivery.

A Few Important Details

Your CSA account remains open until six years after your anticipated graduation date, so there's no pressure to access your funds the moment you graduate. Whether you're heading to college in the fall, starting a trade program next year, or still figuring out your next step, your funds will be there when you're ready.

Because the account is held in HCCF's name, it has no impact on your FAFSA calculation, financial aid eligibility, or eligibility for public assistance programs.

If you have questions about your account balance, reach out to the Frankenmuth Credit Union Harbor Beach branch directly.
