Utility Disconnection

On March 25, 2024, DTE Energy was on site to remove electrical service from 101 N Port Crescent and 101 W Huron Ave.

The Huron County Community Foundation continues to diligently work toward the development of the Community Hub in Bad Axe. For the last year, HCCF has been cooperating with the United States Department of Agriculture grant compliance process. That process required that no additional work be done on the site until the grant compliance was completed.

In early March, HCCF was notified that they had reached a point in the compliance process where work with Michigan EGLE could resume. The next step to ready the site for demolition and remediation work was to remove utility connections to both buildings. DTE Energy was on site March 25, 2024 to remove the electrical connections to 101 N Port Crescent and 101 W Huron Ave. Preparation work with Consumers Energy has been started to remove the natural gas connection next.

“While it is a small step, we wanted to share the movement and action on the site.” said Executive Director, Mackenzie Price. “Internally, we know the ‘behind the scenes’ progress being made on the site, but we also know the public can’t see that, which is why we want to share the updates — big and small.”
