Community Impact Funds

By establishing or donating to a Community Impact Fund, your contribution addresses a variety of local needs, including those that may arise in the future and are often unforeseen at the time of your donation.

Community Impact Funds support every facet of healthy, vibrant communities including arts and culture, economic development, education, environmental conservation, health and human services, disaster response, and beyond. The adaptability of your Community Impact donation empowers the Foundation to address the community's most urgent needs both today and in the future.

How it Works

When you contribute to or start a Community Impact fund at your community foundation, you have the opportunity to make a lasting difference in your community during your lifetime or into the future through a bequest in your will. Your contribution can take various forms, including cash, appreciated stocks, real estate, or other assets.

Here's what happens when you make a Community Impact gift:

  • You receive tax benefits in the year your gift is made, providing immediate financial advantages.

  • Our professional program staff assesses community needs and determines the areas that would benefit most from grants from your fund.

  • You can give to our Community Impact Fund, establish a new Community Impact Fund in the name of your choice, or give anonymously.

  • Grants are issued in the name of the fund you establish, although if you prefer, grants can also be made anonymously.

  • We handle all administrative details, ensuring that your giving experience is seamless and hassle-free.

  • Your gift can be placed into an endowment that is invested over time. The earnings from your fund are then used to make grants addressing community needs.

  • Your gift, along with all future earnings, becomes a permanent source of community capital, providing sustained support for essential programs and initiatives indefinitely.

Benefits

By establishing a Community Impact Fund, you empower our dedicated team and board members to fulfill their vital role: assessing community needs and responding by awarding grants to the nonprofit organizations leading our community's most essential initiatives. These funds enable your community foundation to:

  • Support long-term solutions

  • Respond swiftly to emergencies

  • Adapt to evolving social, cultural, educational, or environmental needs in our local community.

Grants are issued in the name of the fund you create, shaping your personal legacy of generosity. You have the flexibility to contribute to the fund immediately or through estate planning strategies such as a will or other arrangements. Endowed gifts become a permanent resource for community funding, ensuring sustained support for generations to come.
