Scholarship Funds
When contributing to a scholarship fund, you are providing support for the next generation. As higher education evolves, so does our approach to supporting students.
Giving to an existing scholarship fund or supporting a pooled scholarship program demonstrates your commitment to meaningfully supporting students and their goals. The foundation can assist donors by offering the expertise and guidance needed to navigate funding in a constantly evolving post-secondary climate.
How it Works
Here are the steps involved in establishing a Scholarship Fund:
Conversation: The first step in determining if a scholarship fund is the right fit for your philanthropic goals is having a conversation with HCCF staff.
Guidance from Experts: Our professional program staff assists you in identifying an existing fund that aligns with your goals or explores the possibility of establishing a new pooled fund.
Selection: Choose to give to an existing fund, support a county-wide option, or choose to support a scholarship for a student from a specific school district through our pooled scholarship models.
Fund Establishment: We create a fund with the name that you have chosen.
Contribution Options: You have the flexibility to donate cash, appreciated stocks, real estate, or other assets to your community foundation.
Tax Benefits: Enjoy tax advantages in the year of your donation.
Administrative Support: We handle all administrative tasks and oversee the awarding of scholarships to deserving students.
Impact Updates: Stay informed with regular updates on the impact of your gift, including the name of the recipient of the pooled award.
In select situations, the foundation may approve a named, donor-directed scholarship in which the donor may play a role in creating additional criteria for the award.
